We are a Tokyo-based workshop specializing in kimono restoration.
We handle stain removal, dye correction, cleaning and re-setting (arai-hari), resizing, and structural repairs, selecting methods based on the condition and materials of each piece.

How to Request Our Services – Process Overview
We accept consultations by appointment at our studio, and we also accept requests by shipping (within Japan).

In-Person Consultation at Our Studio
1) Contact & Reservation
Ougiya Kimono Studio operates by appointment so we can secure enough time for each consultation.
Please contact us by phone or email to make a reservation.
Standard consultation time: approx. 30 minutes
When you book, we may ask:
- Whether you have a date you plan to wear the kimono
- Whether you need urgent or same-day attention
- The number of items you plan to bring
- Any deadlines or specific concerns
Walk-ins may not be accommodated depending on the schedule.

2) Visiting Our Studio
Please arrive at your reserved time.
You may open the workshop door and enter directly—no need to knock.

3) Examination & Estimate
We will examine your item(s) and propose:
- Recommended treatment options
- A realistic restoration goal
- An estimated cost and timeframe
In some cases, small tests (for dye behavior or material response) may be needed before we can provide a precise quote.
4) Approval & Payment
If you decide to proceed, we will confirm the scope of work and payment, then begin treatment.
Payment methods at the studio:
- Cash
- Credit card
- PayPay
- Bank transfer
Credit card and PayPay are processed as a single lump-sum payment.
5) Treatment
We perform the agreed work and will contact you if we encounter unexpected issues that require a decision before continuing.
If you have a specific wear date or deadline, please tell us in advance.
6) Delivery
When the work is complete, we will contact you and confirm your preferred return method:
- Pick-up at our studio
- Return by courier (within Japan)

1) Contact & Shipping Your Items
Before shipping, please contact us by phone or the contact form with a brief description of what you plan to send.
Please include inside the package:
- Your contact information (phone and/or email)
- A short note describing:
- Areas of concern (stains/damage/location)
- Any deadlines or upcoming occasions
- Any requests or questions
If you prefer, you may also use our application form (available on the Japanese page).
2) Packing Guidelines
- Fold the kimono neatly.
- Place it in a plastic bag (two layers recommended) to protect from moisture.
- Use a sturdy outer bag or cardboard box.
- If possible, ship on a dry-weather day.
- Please ship prepaid (shipping costs paid by the sender).
- Arrange delivery to arrive during business hours.

We will then examine the item(s) and propose:
- Recommended treatment options
- A realistic restoration goal
- An estimate and timeframe
If tests are necessary before quoting, we will explain this in advance.
4) Approval & Payment
For shipping requests, payment is generally by bank transfer before work begins.

5) Treatment

- Hold for studio pick-up (if preferred)
